Circular Route from Santa Maria del Camí: The Heart of the Pla de Mallorca

The cycling route begins in Santa Maria del Camí, a central cyclist meeting point in the heart of the island. Thanks to its excellent location, you can easily reach it from Palma by cycling, by train, or by car, utilizing the easy parking available near the train station.

A False-Flat Stage for Everyone

This inland stage is perfect for relaxed riding, allowing you to enjoy road cycling in Mallorca at a gentle pace. The route runs along quiet, low-traffic roads, surrounded by extensive vineyards and bordered by traditional dry stone walls (pedra en sec). It’s a unique opportunity to spot local breeds such as Mallorcan sheep or the porc negre (black pig).

However, if your goal is performance, this false-flat route allows you to train power and speed to the max, making it an excellent cycling training session of about 2 hours for intermediate-level cyclists.

Detailed Circuit Development

We leave Santa Maria heading towards Llubí via the Camí Vell de Muro (Old Muro Road), a secondary road very popular among local cyclists due to its good asphalt and low traffic volume (it runs parallel to the main Palma-Inca road). ATTENTION: Exercise caution at the major intersections crossing towards Binissalem and Sencelles.

After leaving the Muro Road and turning towards Llubí, the asphalt is the most uneven of the entire circuit, but without any difficulty. We will continue the Pla de Mallorca circuit through Sineu, Lloret, and Pina, until reaching Algaida.

The stretch from Algaida to Santa Eugènia is one of the most enjoyable: a fast road with rolling hills (toboganes) where you can push the pace. CAUTION: On this section, stay alert for cars at blind crests.

Although the route bypasses the inland villages, we encourage you to venture into their squares to enjoy a well-deserved coffee.
